What our clients have to say.
Meet Barbara.“I ran the tuckshop at Ignatius Park for 20 years” recalls Barbara.
“Working hard and enjoying life were the priorities, it never even entered my mind to ever go see a financial planner.” Barbara’s son, Michael, became a qualified licenced financial planner, and took a keen interest in his parents retirement planning (or lack of it). With only his parents’ best interests in mind, Michael was able to review their income, current situation and goals. Like the coaching staff at Barbara’s beloved Cowboys, Michael was then able to formulate a 'game plan' about how Barbara and Kerry, a Queensland Rail employee, could have the retirement they really wanted, rather than the one they were headed towards. “Michael used a whiteboard which really helped us visually see how the changes we could make week to week would affect what we had in 10 or 20 years’ time. Little things can make such a huge difference in the long run” says Barbara. Since putting their financial plan in place, Barbara has visited Barcelona, Moscow and also explored Turkey. The Big Apple (New York City) and Paris have been her favourite destinations, having visited La Ville-Lumière (the City of Light) three times. She and Kerry have fulfilled a dream that many of us have, travelling across the country from the East to the West Coast on the Indian Pacific, and taking in the Red Centre during their travels on the Ghan. Of course, the pride that Barbara has in the Cowboys still takes centre stage, with her taking her place in the stands for every home game. “I do love to travel now, but my travel plans revolve around the Cowboys!” laughs Barbara. |
